Game Set Goals Tennis Series: A Free Youth Tennis and Storytelling Program in Fresno

This summer, Equity For All is proud to launch the Game Set Goals Tennis Series, a free youth tennis program in Fresno designed to help students develop not only their tennis skills but also the confidence, leadership, and life skills needed to succeed both on and off the court.

In partnership with Community Tennis Roeding Park and the Roeding Park Tennis Club, the program welcomes students in grades 4–6 to experience beginner-friendly tennis instruction combined with storytelling, goal setting, and personal development activities.

Unlike a traditional tennis clinic, the Game Set Goals Tennis Series uses tennis and storytelling as tools to expand educational and career opportunities for youth. Every session encourages students to discover their strengths, share their stories, and begin thinking about the goals they have for their future.

More Than Just a Tennis Clinic

Each week, students participate in engaging on-court instruction led by experienced coaches and volunteers. They learn the fundamentals of tennis while improving coordination, teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship.

After tennis, students take part in Your Story Matters, a storytelling workshop developed by Equity For All. Through guided discussions and interactive activities, students reflect on their dreams, build self-confidence, and explore future educational and career possibilities.

Whether a student dreams of becoming a doctor, teacher, athlete, engineer, or artist, the program helps them recognize that every journey begins with believing in themselves and taking the first step.

Building Lifelong Opportunities

Tennis is one of the few sports that can be enjoyed throughout a person's lifetime. Beyond physical activity, it teaches perseverance, discipline, resilience, and problem-solving—skills that transfer into the classroom, future careers, and everyday life.

By combining athletics with storytelling, the Game Set Goals Tennis Series provides a unique youth development experience that encourages students to:

  • Learn the fundamentals of tennis

  • Stay active and develop healthy lifestyle habits

  • Build teamwork and leadership skills

  • Explore educational and career pathways

  • Practice goal setting and self-reflection

  • Develop communication and sportsmanship

  • Discover the value of their own story

Serving the Fresno Community

The program is part of Equity For All's mission to expand educational and career opportunities for youth through storytelling. By removing financial barriers, the Game Set Goals Tennis Series ensures that every child has access to high-quality enrichment opportunities regardless of previous tennis experience.

Throughout the summer, students receive:

  • Well-structed tennis sessions

  • Tennis equipment

  • Storytelling and leadership activities

  • Positive mentors and coaches

  • A supportive and welcoming community
